AEGIS is designed to use AI-assisted analysis to examine incoming mission information and highlight potential signs of survivors or hazards. The goal is not to let AI make rescue decisions — it is to help human teams review complex information faster.
Instead of relying on one signal, the intended AEGIS intelligence layer can bring together multiple observations and present them to rescuers for verification.
Camera, audio and planned sensor systems provide raw information from the search environment.
Software examines incoming information for patterns that may deserve closer human attention.
Potential findings can be considered alongside mission position, imagery and available sensor context.
The system creates an alert; a trained operator reviews the evidence and determines the appropriate response.
If a trapped person is located and the communications system is available, AEGIS is intended to provide a two-way audio channel between that person and the rescue team.
Rescuers can listen, speak, ask about injuries or surroundings, reassure the survivor and provide instructions while the rescue operation continues.
Page 7 will go deeper into the camera, thermal, gas, audio and environmental sensing systems.
